“I really appreciated being in Professor Caston’s class for Interviewing Skills. I feel like I’ve learned so much […] and it made me more excited to pursue this career! I genuinely think the things I was taught will be remembered forever.
A lot of the way Professor Caston frames things, I relate a lot to. […] He made me feel comfortable, safe and confident in myself to push forward, and I was always excited to come to class. I hope I become half the therapist he is one day.”

“I have had the pleasure of being supervised by Matt while working with my provisional license. I worked with him for about 2 years. I have had multiple supervisors in the past, and I have learned more from Matt than any previous supervisor.
He balances holding me accountable and ensuring I improve my knowledge and abilities, while remaining constant with positive regard and approachability. I felt the ability to be vulnerable and discuss areas for growth in a non-judgemental environment.
While in supervision I have gained insight into my imposter syndrome and have grown more confident in my abilities. He recognized my tendency to deflect with humor and met it with his own at first and slowly began challenging it at a comfortable pace. I felt I could reflect upon how my history as a clinician and as a person have influenced my own presentation both as a supervisee and as a clinician.
I learned how to be authentically and unapologetically myself, while increasing my comfort level with evidenced based practices and a more structured approach. Matt helped me learn how to ask for help and that it is not only allowed but encouraged. Wherever I had a question about a difficult case or unfamiliar modality, he was there for me. He also helped advocate for me in the workplace and with clients and prepared me to advocate for myself upon completion of supervision.
I am saddened that our supervision time is coming to a close, but I am more confident in my abilities than ever before, and I know he will always be one call, text or email away. I know that as this relationship comes to an end, it will be replaced with a mentor, colleague, and friend.”

“I have had the pleasure of working alongside Matt, and he has been a refreshing reminder that there are truly exceptional mental health providers out there. In a field where I have unfortunately had some disappointing experiences, Matt stands out for all the right reasons.
His dedication to his clients is genuine and unwavering. Matt creates a space where you never feel judged—only heard, supported, and encouraged. He has an incredible ability to help you see situations from a different perspective while making you feel completely understood. He is the kind of therapist who will always be in your corner, cheering you on and helping you recognize strengths in yourself that you may not have seen before.
I am incredibly grateful to know someone like Matt. His compassion, integrity, and commitment to helping others are evident in everything he does. I have no doubt that anyone who works with him will feel supported, empowered, and genuinely cared for.”

Working with Matt has been one of the most impactful experiences in my professional journey. I first had the opportunity to work alongside him as a fellow counselor, and later he became my clinical supervisor. Watching him lead from both perspectives has been inspiring.
Matt has a way of making you feel heard and understood. He takes the time to listen, learn your goals, and help create a path that aligns with who you are and where you want to go. He doesn’t push people with pressure or unrealistic expectations. Instead, he challenges you with encouragement, thoughtful guidance, and a plan that helps you grow with confidence.
One of the things I appreciate most is that I’ve never felt judged. No matter the situation, Matt creates a space where you can be honest, ask questions, make mistakes, and continue learning. He has a genuine gift for helping people recognize their own strengths, often before they see them themselves.
Because of Matt’s mentorship, I’ve grown not only as a counselor but also as a leader. He has always believed in my potential and reminded me that I’m capable of achieving more than I sometimes give myself credit for. I am incredibly grateful for his guidance and would recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for a mentor, supervisor, or clinician who truly invests in the people he works with.
